A glimpse into the window to our world — one of our core values concerns material choices. We have been obsessed with paper and the quality of lighting, dispersed by paper. In this case, natural handmade paper made out of banana fiber.

We, as humans, are attracted to the calming effect of repetition; however, perfect repetition is mundane and predictable. By introducing a subtle wave of disturbance into the layers of dry banana leaves, we have added dynamic value and a signature quirk to our Kentang series.

This repetitive movement has not only helped train our manual dexterity as we developed the collection, but it has also calmed us and put us in a zone where we can declutter our minds and let this repetitive technique be the driver of this collection. This works closely with the intrinsic quality of the banana paper to create an alchemy reaction, which we now identify as Ong Cen Kuang’s methodology, thus identity.
